Created in 2008, VOW became an IRS 501(c)(3) organization in 2010.
Through grants and monthly meetings, we support one another in our endeavors in the arts, education, and community needs. VOW commits to creative solutions to improve the quality of life for others.
Our very beginning:
In 2008, Betty Catching,
Judy Hatfield, and Lolly Anderson were on the front steps of Lolly's home after a fundraiser for a film on creativity. Lolly said,
"Let's get 25 women to give $1,000 each so we can get a film credit." Judy said, "We need an acronym." Lolly said, "Creative Oklahoma Women, COW?"
They laughed, and then Betty said, almost immediately,
"VOW, Visionary Oklahoma Women."
That was it! Betty was 84 years old. Now at 94 she is as beautiful and creative as ever.
